1st time to animal kingdom. No more fast passes for the Avatar flight of passage in Mar. We'll do that ride 1st. Should we go at 8am on a Fri and have the full day? Or use Magic hour on Sat to go at 7am but we have a flight leaving at 6pm.

    Hi Debbie,

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel and thank you for your question. Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a spectacular park, with so much to experience – I’m so excited for you!

If your priority is getting on Avatar Flight of Passage with the lowest wait time, I think you may do slightly better with the Saturday 7:00 a.m. Extra Magic Hours. The lightest Walt Disney World Resort crowds I have ever experienced have been 7:00 a.m. Extra Magic Hours, because fewer people are willing to wake up early enough to be at the park at that time.

Having said that, 8:00 a.m. on a Friday could be comparable, because, while there aren’t Extra Magic Hours, there won’t be as many locals in the park. It’s very difficult to predict the crowds, so my best advice is to do what seems to fit best into your overall plan, and prepare to wait regardless. I’ve been to Pandora – The World of Avatar during morning Extra Magic Hours and have found the attractions already very lined up, so just be ready for that.

If you’re wondering about whether Disney’s Animal Kingdom is a “full day park,” in my opinion it absolutely is! There are so many incredible trails and experiences in the park, and jaw-dropping details everywhere. It also has really incredible dining and snacks! The new evening activities, such as the Tree of Life Awakenings, Rivers of Light, and the bioluminescent scenery in Pandora - The World of Avatar make it a gorgeous place to spend an evening.

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
