Welcome to planDisney, Adam! I am so pleased that you are utilizing the search function of the website by reviewing previous answers before submitting a new one.
As you likely gathered from
my previous answer, the unique hexagon-shaped paving stones that line the esplanade between
Disneyland Park and Disney California Adventure Park were part of Disney's "Walk of Magical Memories." These “bricks” could be personalized with a name, hometown, and a special date. Guests became a part of Disneyland history by purchasing a 10-year brick "sponsorship." I am so pleased that your father has been memorialized with a paver at the Disneyland Resort. I am sure seeing it brings back wonderful memories of his work at
Disney California Adventure Park during that time.
Unfortunately, the program ended in 2011. But you do have an option if you would like something similar for yourself. My friend and fellow panelist,
Andres V, pointed out that
commemorative pavers are available for purchase on
shopDisney.com. Many of them are currently themed to
Walt Disney World Resort, in honor of the 50th Anniversary celebration that just wrapped up. But, there are designs with Mickey Mouse and
Cinderella Castle that look very similar to the ones you’ll see when visiting the
Disneyland Resort. You may add up to three lines of text plus a date. So, you can attempt to recreate your father’s paver from the esplanade.
Thanks again for stopping by planDisney. Please come back to see us again. Whether it is to search our database of answers or submit another question of your own!
