Hey there Gail,
Welcome back to planDisney from a fellow Arizonan! I'm thrilled to hear that you're planning a trip to the Disneyland Resort during the Halloween season later this year. It's such a great time to visit the parks!
Oogie Boogie Bash - A Disney Halloween Party is a really fun special event, but it does require a separate ticket - your
standard theme park ticket for the day will not work for entry. In previous years, they've made announcements around 6:00 PM that Disney California Adventure Park is closing for all but those who have tickets to the special event, which they have tracked with special wristbands.
Having said that, I would highly recommend purchasing tickets for your visit if you're able to! I was able to go with my son last year for the first time and we had so much fun! Tickets are not on sale quite yet, nor have the sale dates been announced, but I would recommend keeping an eye on the
Disney Parks Blog and the
event page to get more information when it becomes available.
If you're not planning on attending, but want to spend the day in both parks, then I would recommend purchasing the
Park Hopper option for your theme park tickets! This will give you the option to hop between parks starting at 11:00 AM. This way, you can spend part of your day in Disney California Adventure Park and then when it closes for the special event you can hop back over to Disneyland Park.
Thank you again for your question, Gail! I hope you have a wonderful visit to the Disneyland Resort later this year.
Have a Magical Day,
Greg
