Our tickets are yellow on my Disney app. Do I have to activate them? If so can I do that in the line to get in or do I need to go somewhere specific? Thx!

Hey there Debra, and welcome to planDisney!

With the weather definitely getting chilly up in Manitoba, I hope that you're getting excited to head down to the sunny Floridian weather next week! There are certain kinds of tickets like the ones purchased in 2024 through the discounted Canada Resident offer that may require you to provide proof of residency in order for them to be activated; as you mentioned, these can appear yellow/orange (in a shade that reminds of Pluto) in the My Disney Experience app

    • According to the official policy for these kinds of tickets: "All adults will need to show proof of Canada residency at a Walt Disney World Resort theme park ticket window prior to first use." These ticket windows as well as Guest Relations Cast Members can be found just outside of the theme parks, and you'll want to head to them first to instead of proceeding directly to the lines at the entrance turnstiles. (I personally witnessed an unwitting family being stopped and holding back all of the folks waiting behind them, so it's a great idea to get this sorted out sooner than later!)
    • As far as what is considered acceptable identification at Walt Disney World Resort, Cast Members have requested various pieces of government-issued ID from driver's licenses to original passports (with physical or even digital passport copies currently being accepted in addition to a foreign driver's license) so Canadian folks and families have even brought these along with them to validate their admission.
    • What I personally recommend is heading to the Disney Springs Welcome Center where you can also have this done even before heading to the theme parks, just to save some of that precious time on your park days. (Unfortunately however, this cannot be done at the Disney Resort Hotels.) Folks with tickets already activated and ready to go will see them as blue in the My Disney Experience app - but if it's your first time here, just be aware you'll still need to have your fingerprint captured as you enter.
I hope that this helps, Debra! You're always welcome to come back to us here at planDisney for any other tips, answers or advice ahead or during your next visit - and I hope you'll get a chance to enjoy some of the very festive atmosphere that has already descended upon Walt Disney World Resort!

Wishing you all the best on your quest to get those tickets activated!
