If I get tickets for out of state grandkids under18 do I have to buy a ticket for myself or just be at the gate to show my ID on the first day to activate

    Season's greetings, Diane!

Welcome to planDisney, the most magical place on the internet! Wow, Diane, what a special gift to give your grandkids. Someone's in the running for Best Grandma Award! I have the most magical memories from my trips to the Walt Disney World Resort with my family, so I cannot wait for you and your grandkids to make some too.

Regarding Florida Resident theme park tickets, all Guests using these tickets must be Florida residents. Indeed, while your grandchildren are minors, you would still need to show proof that they either live with you or are Florida residents as well. In that case, you can purchase regular theme park tickets for them. If you want to use the Florida resident rate for yourself, however, you will be able to upload a picture of your valid Florida state ID while purchasing your ticket. All you will have to do is fill out the “Your Florida Resident Information” form upon checkout or click on "Customize Your Tickets" when purchasing through the My Disney Experience mobile app. That way, you will not have to show your ID when entering the theme parks.

Now, Diane, I hope you can experience some of the many offerings that are only available during the Holiday season! Indeed, each theme park and Resort offers special activities to celebrate the Holiday season, and they truly make your vacation so unique and extra magical! For example, Magic Kingdom Park's Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party includes themed fireworks, a parade, entertainment and treats. However, it is also a great opportunity to go on all your favourite attractions as they usually have reduced wait times due to limited capacity! These events require special event tickets, so make sure to purchase yours before they sell out. In addition, I always love visiting the themed Christmas trees and gingerbread displays. Besides, there is no better snack for Christmas activities than gingerbread cookies!

I hope this was helpful, Diane, and that you and your grandkids will have the best day ever on your Disney vacation. If you have any other questions in the time leading up to your visit, please don't hesitate to reach back out. As Minnie said, there's no better kind of magic than the one we make when we're all together!

Have a happy, merry, holly, jolly day,
