I have tickets and reservations for November, but I don’t want to come if we will still have to wear masks. Is there a cancellation penalty to change or cancel my dates?

Hi, Alisha!  Thanks for bringing your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

Walt Disney World Resort recently announced its plans for reopening, and I am looking forward to a great, big, beautiful tomorrow when I can return to my happy place!  As Walt Disney World Resort prepares to begin welcoming Guests back to a world of magic, they are working closely with health authorities to protect their Guests and Cast Members.  While things may look a little different when the theme parks reopen, I have no doubt that Guests can still enjoy a magical, memorable vacation.

According to the new health and safety guidelines, all Guests ages 2 and up must wear face coverings when visiting Walt Disney World Resort.  At this time, we have no way of knowing how long this requirement will be in effect.  I would recommend following the Disney Parks Blog and keeping an eye on the resort operations page on the Walt Disney World website for all of the latest news and announcements.

Alisha, I hope that you will still be able to enjoy your vacation as planned, but if you do need to postpone your trip, Hakuna Matata, no worries.  Date-specific theme park tickets purchased through June 6, 2020 with a valid use period beginning March 12, 2020 or later, will automatically be extended to use any date through September 26, 2021.  If you are unable to visit by September 26, 2021, you may apply the value of a wholly unused ticket toward the purchase of a ticket for a future date.

As for your Walt Disney World Resort Hotel reservations, your cancellation policy may depend on how you booked your trip.  In my experience, when I have booked my resort hotel reservation directly through the Walt Disney World website, I have been able to cancel with no penalty up to 30 days before my trip.  For more information on cancellation policies, you can take a look at the 2020 Walt Disney Travel Company Terms and Conditions.  You can also feel free to call the Help Center phone number for existing tickets or resort hotel reservations to speak with a Cast Member about questions specific to your situation.

Whenever you are ready to visit Walt Disney World Resort, the magic will be waiting for you, Alisha.  Please know that the Disney Parks Moms Panel will also be here to help you with all of your planning questions.

    See ya real soon!
