Hi Dana!
Thank you so much for sending your Disneyland Resort vacation planning question to us hEAR at planDisney!
This is an understandable question, Dana, given these uncertain times. I can imagine how you're on the fence about making long-term plans not knowing what kind of border restrictions or
health and safety protocols, from not just one country but two, will pop up next. While standard
Theme Park Admission Tickets that can be purchased by themselves on the Disneyland website are not refundable, the
value of what you paid for them is safe and can be applied to any tickets needed to be purchased for a future visit. If you were to purchase tickets right now they'd be valid for a *year-ish so you could most likely reschedule a trip that didn't happen in May to try again in December. (*It depends on if you buy a promotional ticket or if you buy directly from Disney or a travel agent, etc.) However, if you booked a trip for this yEAR, something happened, and you aren't able to make it back to sunny Southern California for another two years (knocks on wood), while your original tickets will have expired, you
will be allowed to exchange or apply them to tickets of the same or higher value. To do this you'll call the
Disneyland Resort Ticket services helpline; their number is (714) 781-4636.
Pro Tip: If you have tickets and you need to cancel, take screenshots, make printouts, email yourself the confirmation information three different ways, etc. of both your purchase confirmation(s) but also of each ticket. (Also write down how much you paid for each ticket.) Disney will be able to find your info in their system, but your tickets will disappear from what you can see in your
My Disneyland Account and your Disneyland Mobile App after their expiration date; doing this will save that much time when you call to rebook your trip as you won't first have to spend time looking this information up.
However! If you book a
Vacation Package, which combines a play and a stay into one easy-to-find and easy-to-pay-for booking, the theme park tickets (as well as the hotel stay) are refundable as long as you cancel 5 days before check-in. Officially you have up to 30 days before check-in to cancel and get all of your money back; but if you need to cancel between 5 to 30 days out, you'll only lose your $200 deposit. And the good news is this is true for packages booked at either a
Disneyland Resort Hotel or a
Disneyland Good Neighbor Hotel!
