I have tickets to Oogie Boogie Bash but plan to go to Disneyland to eat at the Blue Bayou. I had planned to dress as the anime character Kyoko Sakura from madoka magica. Would I be able to enter Disneyland in this costume?

Welcome to planDisney, Justine! Kicking off your Oogie Boogie Bash evening with a meal at the Blue Bayou sounds like an amazing way to start the party right. I'm happy to help you prepare for a fun and magical night.

According to the current Disneyland Resort Costume Guidelines, any clothing that drags on the ground is prohibited and clothing with multiple layers may be subject to search. I am not familiar with the character you mentioned, so I did a quick online search. Based on what I saw, the costume appears to follow those guidelines and may be appropriate to wear during your Blue Bayou reservation before Oogie Boogie Bash. That said, final costume approval is always at the discretion of Disneyland Resort Security and Cast Members on the day of your visit. I would recommend having a backup plan, in case your specific version causes any concern during the security screening process.

Since you'll already be enjoying the Bash, I'd love to share a couple of tips that have helped my wife and me over the years. First, be sure to prioritize Villains Grove. During the Bash, Redwood Creek Challenge Trail is transformed into an eerie and beautifully themed walkthrough experience featuring lighting effects, projections, and villain-inspired environments. It is unlike anything at either park and needs to be experienced at least once.

Also, if you are able to enter Disney California Adventure before the party officially begins, I would recommend it. There are designated in-park distribution locations inside the park where you can pick up your event wristband before the party starts. This can save valuable time later in the afternoon when entrance lines begin to grow. That gives you more time to relax and enjoy your meal at Blue Bayou before heading back to the party.

Justine, I hope this helps as you prepare for an unforgettable evening at Oogie Boogie Bash. If any additional questions creep out of the shadows before your visit, please stop by planDisney again. We'd be delighted to help.

May your treat bag be overflowing and your Oogie Boogie Bash adventure be filled with unforgettable memories!
