Hi Kevin,
How nice to see you stopping by planDisney!
We are all excited for the 50th anniversary this year! My family has already booked a
vacation package and made
Disney Park Pass system reservations. Since we booked a vacation package, tickets came with our package. Theme park availability depends on the exact dates of your visit.
First, check the
park availability calendar for the dates of your visit. Since it looks like you do plan to visit on October 1, 2021, I checked and, currently, Magic Kingdom has no availability. So, you can certainly
purchase tickets but may not be able to visit Magic Kingdom on that day. Keep checking the availability calendar. There is a slight chance that availability could change prior to your visit!
My suggestion would be to go ahead and reserve your resort hotel and get those theme park tickets. Even if you are not able to visit Magic Kingdom on that day, the amazing Imagineers have so much in store across all of the parks for the
world's most magical celebration!
Kevin, given the anticipated crowds, I would also recommend staying at a Walt Disney World resort hotel. The complimentary
resort transportation will be useful as you try to navigate the parks and resorts. We booked at Disney's Pop Century Resort because it fits our budget and has access to the
Disney Skyliner. Continue to check the
operational updates as experiences and resort availability could change. Also follow the
Disney Parks Blog and be on the lookout for special events to celebrate. We cannot wait to welcome you back to a world of magic!
Magic and memories,
Donyell
