Welcome, Laura! I'm so happy you stopped by planDisney with your question and I appreciate you thinking of us as a helpful resource for planning your next Disney vacation.
Unless otherwise stated in your
ticket's terms and conditions, you should be able to change the name on your currently issued
theme park ticket to Disneyland Resort. However, it is also possible for the Guest to whom you are gifting your ticket to use it as is, without a name change. When a ticket is scanned at the theme park entrance for the first time, a Cast Member will take a digital photo of the Guest using the ticket. The photo is what officially assigns the ticket to that Guest, and Cast Members will not necessarily need to check names or verify identification. The only exception to this particular process is when a Guest is using a
Southern California Resident special offer ticket because Cast Members do need to see a government-issued ID to verify proof of residency at the time of the ticket's use.
For this reason, it makes perfect sense that you might just want to proceed with reassigning the ticket to the correct name of the Guest who will be using it. Feel free to call and speak with a Cast Member using the
Tickets line to request a change to the name associated with your original ticket.
I hope this helps, Laura, and that you're able to sort out these changes. If you have any other planning questions in the meantime, I invite you to come back to
planDisney. We're always ready to help you plan the best vacation ever!
Magically yours,
Tishra
