Hiya Kristin! Welcome to planDisney! I see I have a fellow fan of World of Color in you! I just love the one-of-a-kind storytelling through water, music, lights, and ... of course ... color! It's spectacular and I can understand making it a priority for your visit next week!
The good news is that there are a few ways to enjoy World of Color! The
World of Color Dessert Party is filled with rainbow-inspired treats, cocktails, and coffees along with top-notch views of the performance. If you are not seeing availability, it is likely sold out for the evening. The Dessert Party can be booked up to 60 days ahead of time, and with so many Guests ecstatic that it's back, they are filling up quickly! That being said, Guests who are unable to attend must cancel at least one day ahead of time, so there is a chance reservations will open up! I would continue to keep checking just in case you can catch a cancellation. While this is certainly not a guarantee, you can always check with a Cast Member upon arrival to see if there are any last-minute openings. In my experience, it never hurts to ask!
If you do find yourself with a reservation, you will check in an hour ahead of showtime. You will be asked if you want a low-top table in the front or a high-top table in the second row. This may be a personal preference, but I just caught the show from the second-row hightop and felt like I had a much better view as Guests without dessert party access are seated in front of you. Just a tip!
Ok, let's talk about some alternatives in case those reservations do not open up before your trip. Disney California Adventure Park is using a virtual queue for World of Color which allows Guests into two specified viewing areas. There is no extra fee and this is ultimately the best way to view the show without the Dessert Party or Dining Package preferred viewing areas. To enter the virtual queue, it's as easy as 1...2...3:
1. The virtual queue opens at 12 p.m. each day. Guests will need to have a scanned into Disney California Adventure Park before this time OR scanned into Disneyland Park with a Park Hopper ticket, which allows hopping after 1 p.m.
2. Open up the app a few minutes before noon and navigate to World of Color by using the eyeglass icon on the bottom navigation bar.
3. You will see a refresh button. I continued to hit the refresh right until the clock struck 12 and I was let into the next page confirming that I did reserve a spot in the virtual queue. You will be told if you hold a spot for the first or second showing. At this point, you are unable to choose ahead of time. Hopefully, you will have linked the tickets for everyone in your party to your account so you can secure the virtual queue for everyone all at once.
In addition to the virtual queue and Dessert Party, we are waiting to hear when the
World of Color Dining Packages will open up. Keep your eyes peeled on the Disney Parks Blog and the Disneyland and planDisney Instagram accounts, where news usually breaks first! We are anticipating a dining package at both Wine Country Trattoria and Storytellers Cafe that would include preferred seating.
Finally, if for some reason you are unable to secure the virtual queue, you are more than welcome to stand in any dedicated areas around Paradise Gardens Park!
Kristin, I wish I had some more direct information for you, but hopefully, you found this helpful in your planning. If you have any more questions, feel free to come back to see us here at planDisney!
Magic awaits!
