How do tickets / apps / magic bands work? Is the theme park and dining plan all on the same digital ticket and / or band?

    Hi Dave!

Welcome to planDisney! Technology has changed the way one maneuvers and enjoys Walt Disney World. I have to tell you that I have found that it has made it even better.

The most important thing that should be set up before your visit is your My Disney Experience Account. This account is the central part of your experience in Walt Disney World. You should be able to log in and see your tickets, reservations, dining plans (if purchased), and any special event tickets like Mickey's Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. Once you see all your entitlements lined up in your My Disney Experience Account know that it should also show up on the My Disney Experience Mobile App which is on your phone.

Disneybands or what you may know as MagicBands or MagicBands+ are just wearable, colorful gadgets that you wear on your wrist. It uses Radio Frequency technology to help it be scanned or read by readers throughout the Parks and for various purposes. This is an optional technology but it will enhance your visit as it can do so many things once linked to your My Disney Experience account. It can help you unlock your Walt Disney World Resort room door, enter the Parks, check into a Lightning Lane queue, purchase food and souvenirs, and even play games. An example of a fun one that only works with the rechargeable band is Star Wars: Batuu Bounty Hunters which you can play in Galaxy's Edge in Disney's Hollywood Studios.

I love using my band throughout my holiday as it is just so convenient. I don't have to fumble with my pockets to find my Key to the World card which is the card that is issued in place of using these bands. It also looks cute as I can pick the perfect design to match my outfit every day. You can have multiple bands linked to your account and you can deactivate any bands that you lost all through your My Disney Experience Account. In addition, there are security measures in place if someone finds your band as it can't reveal your private information nor can anyone use them for purchases without your 4-digit PIN. Your My Disney Experience Account is where the important information is stored and the band just communicates with it. The hard tickets that look like credit cards are called Key to the World cards and they function in the same way with limited Radio Frequency distance and limited to no access to special interactive areas.

Since your Dining Plan is linked to your My Disney Experience Account you can use your band to spend meal credits throughout your holiday.  You will find getting that Mickey Pretzel becomes dangerously easy with the bands as there are touchpoints at each register and a button pad to enter your PIN.

If you ever have trouble with your bands or your tickets in the Park head to Guest Relations or your Front Desk at your Resort right away. I have found Cast Members incredibly helpful. I always forget my PIN every time I visit and the Front Desk staff has helped reset it for me each time.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any more questions!

    Happy Planning!
