Thx Wilma, I wasn't sure if it was allowed to go to CG eat and return. But looks like we may just go see the decor at GF first! Is there plenty of room on the viewing deck? Is that the best spot to view from CG anyway? (instead of from your table?) thx!

    Hi again, Caroline,

I'm glad my previous answer was helpful for you.

In the past, guests who have had earlier reservations at California Grill have been able to show their dinner receipts to be allowed back upstairs to the observation deck to watch Wishes. To my knowledge, that policy hasn't changed.

I've watched Wishes from California Grill several times, both from the table and from the observation deck outside the restaurant. During the 12-minute show, the lights inside the restaurant are dimmed and the Wishes music is piped in for the optimum experience. The view can vary, depending on the placement of your table.

My preference is to watch Wishes from the observation deck. Because you are 15 stories in the air, it feels as if you are right in the middle of the cascading lights (from a safe distance, of course). The music also plays on the deck.  The view of Magic Kingdom and Wishes is awesome from the deck, no matter where you are standing.

I've found that the servers try their best to time the delivery of your food so that it doesn't interrupt the show and the fireworks don't distract you from the fabulous meal. On a number of occasions, we've taken a mid-meal break to go outside for Wishes, then returned to leisurely enjoy our entrees and desserts.

I'm so eager to see California Grill after its months-long renovations and to sample the new menu. I'm glad your family will have that opportunity during your visit. I hope it is a truly memorable evening for you all.

    Enjoy!
