Hi Alex,
As the mom of a child with special needs, I assure you that the Walt Disney World Resort can definitely be a magical place for
everyone! I'd be happy to help point you towards some resources that can help your trip to go as smoothly as possible, and leave you and your boys with many happy memories!
First, I'd encourage you to check out all of the
amazing resources Disney provides guests with all kinds of special needs. You should be able to find lots of support for your family's unique needs. There is also an
incredible guide for guests visiting with cognitive disabilities that may help you as you prepare for your visit ahead of time. I know that my son loves seeing pictures of the places we'll go and things we'll do, so I always put together a small book for him to look through, helping him feel comfortable and excited about our upcoming vacation.
When you first arrive at the parks, I'd suggest visiting
Guest Relations. You'll find friendly Cast Members who can help you locate companion restrooms and quiet places for sensory breaks if needed. You may also ask them if your family is eligible for the
Disability Access Service, which is designed to help guests with special needs who may have difficulty waiting in lines.
I hope some of these tips help you and all of the members of your family to have a truly magical vacation, Alex! If we can answer any other questions, please let us know!
