We have three boys, ages 5, 2.5 and 8 months. All of our boys are huge - 55 pounds, 36 pounds, and 24 pounds. Two Singles vs. one double stroller? Main concern is on bus at night: one person for the stroller and one person for three sleepy kids?

    Hello Deanna!

I'm a pro-stroller type of gal. My family still uses a single and a double stroller. With the ages of your children, little legs get tired and sometimes need a break. I would choose whichever strollers your children would feel most comfortable in and which are easiest for you to push. I like a good reclining stroller for occasional naps during park time, and I also like a lightweight stroller for older kids.

At first, the buses at night can seem daunting, especially if you leave as the park closes after the fireworks or last parade. My husband and I have a system. He takes care of the strollers while I take care of the children. We usually scope out the bus line situation as we approach the stop, and if we think we'll be close to not getting a seat, then we'll wait for the next bus to arrive. Sitting down with the children is key for me. I have also been known to carry an emergency supply of lollipops at all times. I may have bribed a few children to walk on their own.

I also suggest carrying your 8-month-old in a baby carrier, if possible, to free your hands. We have become quite the professionals in collapsing a stroller in about 5 seconds and gathering our children on the bus. We'll also turn it into a game with the kids and see if we can beat our previous time. New personal records are to be celebrated with ice cream.
