Well ahoy there Laura and welcome to planDisney - it's so great to see fellow Canucks out on the open seas!
After spending years sailing to Eastern Caribbean Port destinations like
St. Thomas and
Tortola, I've been fortunate enough to try out a new
Port Adventure on my nearly weekly excursions and experience the similarities and differences between them.
You'll find that for the vast majority of land-based experiences, the open-air safari taxis or shuttles are the predominant mode of transportation for many of the
Port Adventures that take place across St. Thomas and Tortola. In fact, about half of the excursions available through Disney Cruise Line involve the use of these open-air vehicles. A Port Adventures Crew Member let me know that while sometimes an air-conditioned bus may be dispatched for a tour, this is often not guaranteed unless you choose to book specific tours like
St. Thomas by Private Vehicle - SUV with Driver /Guide,
Tortola by Private Van or
Tortola by Private Minibus.
I hope that this was helpful Laura, I also highly recommend speaking with the Port Adventures team on board directly as operations and transportation in each port is subject to change without prior notice, even on the day! Feel free to come back to planDisney to
ask me any more questions, alongside our Disney Cruise Line specialists
Tracie and
Adrianna!
All the best on your future adventures, without needing to board a safari-vehicle!
