We were thinking of going to Ft. Winlderness right before we check out. How would we get there from AoA? Also, what else would there be to do there other than pony rides for a 5 year old?

Hi Lora! So glad I can help you again with your questions.  It is our pleasure to assist with all your planning needs.

I think you will love the Art of Animation. I am excited to try this new resort out personally soon.  The reviews have been wonderful and there is still yet more to open in the next months.  Getting from resort to resort is the trickiest part of your vacation.  There are no direct buses so your best bet and actually the most fun option is to catch a bus to the Magic Kingdom. Then hop on the Fort Wilderness boat that you can find directly in the front of the park entrance. This will be about a 15 minute ride.  You can reverse your route for your return or catch a different park bus to transfer back to your resort.

If you have a car just drive over to Fort Wilderness. The only parking is at the front but then you simply hop on one of the internal buses and it will get you to the Pioneer Hall area. You can walk around and visit the Disney stables, the pony rides (ask for Nemo), check out the marina, or even rent a canoe back at the Bike Barn. I love Fort Wilderness and find it one of my favorite spots on property! If it is during a holiday time the campers will have decorations out so even a little walk is a fun way to see this resort.
