Was thinking about going to WDW for Xmas but am concerned about the crowds. What dates in Jan would be quieter and cheaper? We flying from Australia and have 2 daughters 3 & 7. First time to any Disney parks.

    Hi Rebecca,

The two weeks around Christmas and New Year's at Walt Disney World are beautiful and exciting, but they also are very crowded. If you want to visit when crowds are among their lowest, I suggest you plan your trip to fall between about January 5 and our Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, which is the third weekend in January.

The Walt Disney World Marathon is the second weekend in January, but it doesn't have as much impact on the crowd as MLK weekend. Weekdays throughout the month, you should find a relatively small number of visitors.

Disney often offers special rates to entice more guests during that slow season. I suggest you keep an eye on the website for details. Even without the specials, that time is considered value season and carries among the lowest resort rates of the year.

I hope that helps. Please let me know if I can offer any other advice as you plan your visit!
