We are thinking of going to WDW in late October. Are there promotions that go out that far in date or when is the best time to book for October?

    Hi Kris,

I have a reservation for my family in October.  It's a great time of the year to visit.  I don't know of any promotions for that time period yet, except there is an AAA discount on most resorts.  I have an AAA rate for my family vacation.

If in the next few months, Disney offers a promotion for October, you can call and try to have it applied to your reservation.  However, you should think of discounted rates as a "clearance sale".  Disney is generally releasing the discount in an attempt to get more guests into the resort hotels during a specific time period.  If you want the discount, you have to be willing to take what's available.  The more flexible you are with the dates and the hotel, the more success you will have.  There have been times when a substantial discount was released for the period we were traveling, but we couldn't take advantage of it because we had our hearts set on a particular resort.

Something else to keep in mind is if you have a "room only" reservation, you can make changes to it without a penalty until 5 days prior to check-in; 6 days for reservations made online.  Thus you really want to apply all discounts before that period.  Likewise, if you have a "vacation package" (includes tickets), you can change or cancel your reservation without penalty up to 45 days in advance.  Please keep in mind, however, that Disney's cancellation and refund policy is subject to change at any time.

If your travel dates are not immediately available at the discounted rate, try calling back periodically.  Availability will change if other guests change or cancel their reservations.  Also, this is something most Authorized Disney Vacation Planners are good at.

Good luck and write back if you have any more questions!
