We are thinking about going to Walt Disney World next year. We would get the Regular Dining plan. I have a son who will be 2 when we go and he is a good eater and I was wondering if he would be covered by the plan.

    Hi Sarah!

How exciting to be Planning Walt Disney World Vacation for Preschoolers.  I have such great memories and photos of my preschooler's first trips to Walt Disney World.  You are going to have an amazing time!

For children under 3, they do not need a park ticket and consequently the Disney Dining Plan is unavailable to them.  However children may share from your plate at restaurants that serve from a menu, or at buffets children can have their own plate and drink at no charge.

I also have children with very good appetites and have paid very little out of pocket when dining at Walt Disney World with our preschoolers.  The cost per day for a child ages 3-9 on the 2014 Disney Dining Plan is $19.23.  From experience I have not paid anywhere close to that amount per day on my children who were under 3.  My family especially loves character buffets and "no charge" for under 3 is a really good value!  At other restaurants if my child was especially hungry I would order an appetizer or a small side dish to go along with my plate sharing.

Good luck with your MAGICAL vacation planning!  If we can answer any more questions, please come back and see us here at the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

    Blessings,
