We are thinking about visiting Walt Disneyworld in February of 2019. We have heard great things about staying at Port Orleans. Do you like the French Quarter or the Riverside hotels better? We have also stayed at the Caribbean and the Coronado hotels.

    Hi, there!

Craig, I'm so glad to hear you're thinking about planning another visit to the Walt Disney World Resort. You ask a tough question. I've enjoyed stays at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside and Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter, and I love them both equally! Let's chat about what makes each of them special, and maybe that will help you decide.

My sons really enjoy The Princess and the Frog, so they totally got a kick out of staying in a themed room in Alligator Bayou at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside. In contrast to our rustic-themed room, Magnolia Bend features stately mansions brimming with Southern charm. You'll find Royal Guest Rooms in Magnolia Bend, and they are completely magical with unique touches! There are fantastic dining options at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside including Riverside Mill Food Court and Boatwright's Dining Hall.

Just down the Sassagoula River is Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter. This resort hotel transports you right into the heart of New Orleans, with cobblestone streets, gas-lit lamps, and beautiful wrought-iron balconies. It's much smaller than Riverside, which makes getting to the pools, bus stop, and the Quick-Service dining location quick and easy. Speaking of dining, you MUST stop by Sassagoula Floatworks and Food Factory for freshly-made beignets; they are nothing short of heavenly.

Craig, the good news is, you can't go wrong with either choice! Guests are welcome to share the amenities at both resort hotels, and each offers convenient ferryboat access to Disney Springs. If theming isn't your highest priority, I recommend booking the resort that offers the best rates during your stay. I hope this was helpful!
