We are thinking about visiting DL and needed some advise on when is the best time of year to visit considering crowds, the least crowds possible. We would prefer cooler weather. Also, is 7 days too much? We love visiting the resorts and downtown disney!

    Hi, Glorian!

I’m glad to hear you’d like to plan your first visit to The Happiest Place on Earth! The second week of January through mid-February is one of the best times to visit. Crowds tend to be lighter (especially on weekdays), hotel prices are generally lower, and the Southern California weather is typically mild that time of year with temperatures ranging from the high 40s overnight to low 70s in the afternoon. September (after Labor Day) through mid-October would also be a good choice if you’re trying to avoid the heaviest crowds and enjoy slightly warmer weather.

Keep in mind that park hours can be shorter during slower months, and there are sometimes more attraction closures when the parks aren’t as busy. However, it should be easier to experience most of your “must-do” attractions, shows and meals due to shorter queues. I suggest you visit for at least four or five days to experience all the resort has to offer. The biggest difference you’ll notice between the two resorts is SIZE! Walt Disney World is spread out over much more land than is available in urban Southern California. While the Downtown Disney District in Anaheim is significantly smaller, there’s still much to enjoy and it’s easier to access because of the close proximity. There are over 15 restaurants and eateries, over 20 shops, a movie theater, and kiosks offering food, merchandise and art.

Each of the three Disneyland Resort Hotels has its own benefits. Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel rooms have a fun, beach-inspired décor. Rooms at the Disneyland Hotel are large and include chic furnishings with a touch of Disney magic. Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa is the closest to the parks and features a private entrance into Disney California Adventure Park!

I hope you enjoy a wonderful vacation to the Disneyland Resort, Glorian!

    Wishing you magic,
    Courtney
