We are thinking of visiting Disney World in Dec 2011 after Christmas.. kids ages 12,9,5 1st trip ever for family..need starting suggestions and are we too late in planning to book meals ,etc...also how are crowds this time fo year? thanks !!

    Hi Jennifer:

What a great treat to your family to take them to Disney World. The basic rule about crowds is that they tend to be heavier when schools are not in session. The week between Christmas and New Years is generally extremely busy as most schools are not in session and families are on vacation. Indeed, this week may be the busiest during the year.  If you have a choice, early January is an excellent time to visit Walt Disney World since schools are generally in session then.  If you plan to go in the coming months, you should make dining reservations as soon as possible, especially if you are trying to visit between Christmas and New Years.

Since your trip is approaching, it may be too late to order the Disney Vacation Planning DVD, so I would make sure you check out Disney World's in-depth planning page on planning your first trip, which provides a lot of the same information found on the vacation planning DVD.

Good luck and enjoy your vacation.
