I am thinking about using Amazon’s Prime Now to buy some must-haves for my picky eating 5 year old. Will perishables be kept cold at Bell Services or do we need to be present in our room to accept delivery?

    Hi Amy,

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I'm so glad you came back to see us with a question about one of my favorite topics: snacks!

When visiting Walt Disney World Resort, groceries are a major must-have. My family prefers to eat breakfast in our resort hotel room, so we always have cereal, milk, fruit, yogurt and lots of snack items on hand. I have a picky eater too, and being able to reach into my bag and pull out a string cheese or applesauce pouch is a lifesaver when some of us get hot, tired, or the dreaded “hangry.” So bravo, Mama, for some super planning!

I have great news: when groceries are delivered to a Walt Disney World Resort hotel, perishable items are held in a cold room at Bell Services until you’re ready for pick up. You have two options for getting the groceries from Bell Services to your resort room: you may call Bell Services from your room phone and request delivery (you do have to be present in your room to receive the groceries), or you may stop by Bell Services and pick them up. Please note that, should you have Bell Services deliver your groceries to your room, a $6 charge will be added to your resort Guest folio (please remember that the delivery charge is subject to change). I like to tip Bell Services for handling my bags, and generally give $1-2 per bag, and a little more if my bags are heavy or awkward. In my opinion, this price is totally worth it for the peace of mind and convenience of having your picky eater’s favorites on hand (seriously, my kid even has a preferred “kind” of hot dog!).

Amy, I’ve found that Cast Members at Walt Disney World Table-Service dining locations are magical with picky eaters. If you politely let your server know that your Mouseketeer would prefer plain pasta or a grilled cheese, there is a chance (though, of course, no guarantees) they can sprinkle pixie dust and come up with something he might enjoy. My family also frequents a lot of buffets, where there tend to be more options that my little guy will actually eat. My friend and fellow Panelist Tabitha often brings snack items with her to a Table Service restaurant for her kiddos so she and her husband can enjoy a nice meal and have the kids covered too.

    Bon appétit, and happy snacking!

    Wishing you a magical vacation,
    Robyn
