Hi Deborah,
Welcome back to planDisney! We appreciate every question you’ve submitted over the years, and we’re thankful for the opportunity to share some pixie dust while you plan your Disney vacations!
I recently spoke with a Cast Member regarding this exact situation, and I’m happy to share what I learned about upgrading your tickets to Annual Passes. Once you upgrade your tickets, you will need to follow the
theme park reservation requirements for Annual Passes. If your Annual Pass type has
blockout dates, you will be subject to those dates.
As far as theme park reservations, the Cast Member explained that it is not common for theme park reservations to “sell out.” If you look at the current
theme park reservation availability calendar, you can see that there is one day within the next several months that has no theme park reservations available for Magic Kingdom Park. As you might know, that date is July 20, when the new nighttime parade,
Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away, will debut. If you upgrade your theme park tickets to Annual Passes before your vacation, you can make sure theme park reservations are available for your dates in advance. You can also
upgrade your tickets in Walt Disney World up until the last day of use, although that means you won’t have access to the
Passholder Benefits and Discounts until your tickets are upgraded.
I hope this helps with your decision, Deborah! It would be great to have the Annual Pass discount for dining and merchandise on your upcoming trip! If you have any further questions, we hope to see ya real soon at
planDisney!
