Hi! Thinking of taking the Keys to the Kingdom tour. This will be our 8th visit to Disney & we want to experience something new. Just hubby & me. Is this a good tour? I know it's a lot of walking, but who expects to sit at Disney??! Thanks!

    Hi Lois,

I love the Keys to the Kingdom tour. Tours are held daily beginning at 8:30 a.m., 9:00 a.m. & 9:30 a.m. During the tour you'll hear stores about Walt Disney & how the Disney theme parks came to life. Its amazing to learn about all the thought, details & planning went into everything. There are so many things that most guests never pay attention to as they walk past - its all part of the "show". You visit the utilidors that run under the MK. We also saw a couple of other backstage areas. For a Disney fanatic like me, just watching all the Cast Members getting ready to appear "on stage" is super exciting but keep in mind that all the glitz is "on-stage", the backstage areas is where all the prep work happens.

On our tour, we got to go on the Jungle Cruise - you don't hear the same "crack you up jokes" that you hear on the regular ride, but learn the story behind it. We also got to go on the Haunted Mansion. The tour & areas you visit can vary a little depending on what is going on at MK. Lunch at the Columbia Harbour House is included.

As of 8-17-10, cost of the tour is $78.81 (tax included). Be sure to ask if they are offering any discounts when booking (i.e., Disney Chase Visa Card Holders or Annual Passholders). Theme park admission is required & not included in the cost of the tour. Min age for this tour is 16 years old. A gov issued photo ID is required. The tour is limited to 20 guests. Reservations can be made beginning 180 days prior to your visit at 407-WDW-TOUR. Tour is held rain or shine so be sure to check the weather & be prepared. Wear comfortable shoes - you will be walking a lot during the ~ 4 1/2 tour.

This may seem a little pricey but its worth it & not something you'd do every visit. You'll walk away with a greater appreciation for the Magic Kingdom & never look at it the same again.
