Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel, Sarah!
My family celebrated my son’s birthday at the
Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party last year, and we had such a good time! The Force is strong with this idea, and your Padawan will make lots of fabulous birthday memories during this out-of-this-world party.
In my experience, there is seating with tables and chairs during the dessert party portion inside
Star Wars Launch Bay, which makes it easy to browse the buffet a few times so you can make your way through all the sweets and treats. The birthday girl can indulge in lots of yummy bites – at our party, there were two different cupcakes to choose from. For the grown-ups in the group, I especially recommend the Lightspeed Margarita. So good!
Sarah, at the party I attended, our whole group sat on the ground in the VIP viewing area. We LOVED that! It’s my understanding that whether you’ll be allowed to sit on the ground really depends on crowd levels and is at Cast Member discretion. I’ve viewed nighttime spectaculars from the VIP area twice at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and we were allowed to sit once, and asked to stand at the other. I wish I had a more definite answer, but my advice is to expect you’ll be standing for the fireworks, and check in with a Cast Member if you’d like to sit, as they may be able to provide some guidance.
I hope your daughter has an amazing 13th birthday, Sarah! When you’re in the Star Wars Launch Bay for the party, definitely stop and
meet the characters – they are so much fun, and you’ll get some great photos. Don’t forget to pick up a birthday Celebration Button from any Guest Relations or merchandise location; this way, your daughter will receive wishes from Cast Members and fellow Guests throughout her magical day.
My tween mom tip is to stop at the
Trolley Car Café Starbucks location for a special birthday beverage. The Cast Members there are truly fantastic, and if you mention it’s your daughter’s birthday, she just might get a special wish or some art on her cup.
I’m wishing your daughter the happiest birthday in the galaxy, and your family a magical vacation!
