Thinking of staying @ the Wilderness Cabins for the 1st time in Oct. Since it seems they aren't located next to any restaurants or activities on the resort map, which "loop" would be the most convienent for bus transportation and resort/dining a

Hi Jenny!  My husband and I have become fans of the Fort Wilderness cabins this past year.  We have come to enjoy the peacefulness and quiet they bring after a long day at the busy parks.  We love the smell of pine forests and don't find being away from the hubbub of activity an issue.

With that said we have stayed in many of the loops now and really can't say one loop is better then the other. There are plenty of bus stops scattered among them making the internal transportation fairly easy.  We enjoy renting a golf cart during our stay as it does give you the freedom of going to the many locations on site a little easier. It is an added expense and not a necessity but instead a convenience.

Trails End is the one table service restaurant located next to Pioneer Hall.  I have found the food very good and they serve some of the best barbecue and fried chicken found on property!  There are also two General stores where you can buy some basic food staples for the quick breakfasts and lunches you might want to have in the cabin.  Each cabin is equipped with full kitchens as well as a small grill on the deck.

There are many great activities in Fort Wilderness that can't necessarily be found at any other resort.  You can rent fishing equipment, canoes, and kayaks.  You can also try your hand at archery or take a Segway tour. Nightly movies and campfires make the "camping" experience even more fun.  Don't forget the horseback and pony rides located right there as well.

Enjoy this hidden secret of Walt Disney World!
