Thinking about staying at Port Orleans next time we go. I have a 10 yr old boy. Are there pools at each hotel with a slide and which would be better for 10 yr old boys ? By the way.. LOVE the planel :)

    Hi, Kelly!

Port Orleans is my favorite Moderate Resort area.   I always lean toward French Quarter, but both are amazing!

Riverside is huge with multiple pools, catch and release fishing, and a table service restaurant.

French Quarter is about half the size of Riverside with only about 1,000 guest rooms.  There is no table service restaurant, just the food court, but it is just a short walk to Riverside if you want a sit down meal.  French Quarter has just one pool.

Both resorts have great food courts, the main pool has a water slide, and both have boat transportation to Downtown Disney.

So here is the major difference:  Size!  Riverside is very big so there are multiple bus stops, and some rooms will have you walking about 10 + minutes to get to the food court or the main pool area (smaller pools scattered around resort.)   French Quarter has a more intimate feel with just one pool, one bus stop, and it is very quick to get around the resort.  (We always request either buildings 3 or 4 to be just steps from the hub of it all!)

Before we had kids, we always chose Riverside, as we enjoyed the walking and the lovely grounds.  Now that we have kids, we opt for French Quarter so we can zip around the resort quickly!  The good news is you cannot go wrong with either resort.  Both are beautiful, have cozy queen size beds and loads of magic.  Good luck deciding!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
