Thinking of spending a holiday at disney but which one is better: Thanksgiving or Christmas? Also ay recommendation on where to stay off site for a group of 10.

    Hi Monica,

Holidays are a great time at Walt Disney World.  There are extra special celebrations and dining offerings.  The parks are decorated and extra magical!

All of this holiday wonder does come with larger crowds.  The week between Christmas and New Year's Day is absolutely one of the most crowded times of year at Walt Disney World.  On Christmas Day, Magic Kingdom Park has been known to close due to filling to capacity, and the parks are all extremely crowded.  Thanksgiving is also a very crowded time, but maybe a bit less so than Christmas week.  Also you might find slightly lower crowds in the time surrounding Thanksgiving since people typically take less time off surrounding Thanksgiving than Christmas.  For the past couple of years, the Christmas decorations for Walt Disney World have gone up in early November, so even if you visit for Thanksgiving, you will be able to see the Christmas holiday decorations.  I would lean toward visiting at Thanksgiving since the crowds will be a little lower, you could still see the Christmas decorations, and it would likely be just a bit warmer.

Staying off property with such a large group is a good idea.  There are many options for vacation rental homes at allstarvacationhomes.com, from condos to townhouses to houses which can accommodate a large group. I also have friends who have stayed at the Windsor Hills Resort, which again has houses, townhouses, and condos to accommodate differing party sizes.  Windsor Hills Resort can be booked online at windsorhillsrent.com  Both of these options have some properties very close to Walt Disney World.

I hope that this information is helpful for you, Monica!  Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
