Hi there Josh, thanks for visiting planDisney and Welcome Home! I’m always happy to chat with a fellow Disney Vacation Club member; let’s dive into your question about electric vehicle charging stations.
When I travel to
Walt Disney World Resort and rent a vehicle, I often rent an electric vehicle. I love not having to fill up at a gas station on my way back to the airport and I'm used to driving an EV at home. I’ve stayed at several
Disney Resort Collection Hotels while renting an EV and have discovered the ins and out of chargers at the Theme Parks, Resorts and Disney Springs. Josh, unfortunately, the Resort you are staying at,
Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, is not home to ChargePoint EV chargers but there are several on the Walt Disney World Resort property that are easily accessible to Guests. Each of the Theme Parks has several
Electric Vehicle Charging Stations, all of which are located very close to the front of the parking lots and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. When you enter the parking area, you can ask a Cast Member for directions for the charging stations (as DVC Member with a Resort reservation, you’re entitled to complimentary parking). The Cast Member might be able to radio ahead to let you know if there is a charger available. Once parked at the charging station, you’ll need either a credit card, a pre-ordered ChargePoint card, or the ChargePoint app on your smartphone. The fees to charge are determined by ChargePoint (you can log in to see the station on your app). Besides the Theme Parks, you can also charge your EV at one of 13 charging stations while shopping or dining at Disney Springs. Charging stations can also be found at Disney’s Riviera Resort, Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, and Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
If you’re planning on staying on-site for the duration of your trip, you might find you won’t need a full charge before you head home but it’s reassuring to know that you can easily find an EV charging station at many places you will already be visiting at Walt Disney World Resort.
Josh, I hope this information helps you with planning for your upcoming trip. You mentioned that your upcoming stay is at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort, it’s one of my favorites! There’s something about feeling like you’re in paradise, sitting on the beach and watching the fireworks of
Happily Ever After light up the
Seven Seas Lagoon while listening to the musical score that’s piped in - it’s simply magical. If you have any other planning or
