We are thinking of planning our next trip for December 16th of this year. We took our 2 and 4 yo girls last December and had so much fun that we are now hooked! They offered free dining then - Does anyone know if that will be offered in Dec this year?

I agree, December is such a great time to visit Walt Disney World! Well, anytime is a good time actually. It's just that seeing everything decorated for the holidays makes it all just a bit more magical. I'm so glad your family is "hooked".
As for Free Dining, right now it has been extended through August of this year only. All promotions are subject to change (added/discontinued) without notice, so I would just go ahead and book your trip since it sounds like you are going anyway. Should Free Dining be offered after you have booked, it could still be applied to your reservation if your travel dates qualify.
