We are thinking of planning our kids' 1st visit to DW next Sept., but I want them to experience traditional DW, not a Halloween DW. Are the parks different in Sept? This will influence our decision on dates.

    Hey there, Beth!

Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!

Wahoo! You're planning your family's first trip! Totally Awesome, Dude!

If you want to visit during September, Walt Disney World, the resorts, and theme parks will have its best fall decorations up for guests to enjoy. Pumpkins, cornucopias, orange, and reds will be throughout the property. Plenty of Halloween souvenirs will be available for guests to purchase and take home a bit of Disney with them. The Magic Kingdom transforms into a not so scary theme park on certain nights during Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party. So during the day or non-party nights, you won't see much Halloween decor.

Seeing Disney in its traditional splendor, which I absolutely love, will be after the holiday season. From late August until about the second week of January, Walt Disney World will be in full holiday effect. Starting with Fall/Halloween and then immediately into the Thanksgiving/Christmas holiday.

If you want to visit when there aren't any special events and traditional Disney decorations, I would suggest to visit anytime from mid-January until mid-August. No holiday decorations will be up during this time.

Beth, have the most magical time planning your kids first Disney visit! If you have more questions about dining, FastPass+, or transportation, please stop back by and visit with us again!

No matter the time you decide to visit, I know your kids and entire family will have the most magical time!

    Happy planning,
