I am thinking about planning a family trip for my boys and my parents (74/75). I am worried that my mom can't walk too long. What will be your suggestions? I want my boys to enjoy time with their grandparent

Greetings, Tessa, and thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question. I'm honored to help! Much like the trip you're dreaming of, my favorite trips to Disneyland include my parents and kids. There is nothing like celebrating the magic of Disney with the young and young at heart!

Tessa, one of the first possibilities I thought of was renting an Electric Conveyance Vehicle (ECV) or wheelchair for your mom during theme park days. Rentals can be found at the Stroller Shop outside the Disneyland Park Main Entrance near the Harbor Blvd. security screening area. While she may not use it the whole time, it is a nice reassurance that she can get around throughout the day. There is no tired like Disney-tired and even my husband who runs marathons is exhausted at the end of a long Disney day so an ECV could be great to keep the party moving!

Another great option with lots of Disney magic is enjoying attractions and rides that offer a long ride time or are shows with seating. Some rides that are a bit longer are "it's a small world," Pirates of the Caribbean, Jungle Cruise, and Pixar Pal-A-Round. And shows that my whole family loves are Turtle Talk with Crush, Mickey's Philharmagic, and Storytelling at Royal Theatre - all of which are great for small Mouseketeers as well as leaders of the club! One way that I love to get around Disneyland is by using the Disneyland Railroad, which has stations in Main Street, New Orleans Square, Mickey's Toontown, and Tomorrowland. The railroad is both transportation and entertainment, and I'll admit to riding the whole loop multiple times a row when my kids were little and tired.

Depending on the ages of your boys, Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland Park is at the front of the park and has a ton of great offerings. Check out the Main Street Cinema, where you can watch classic Mickey Mouse cartoons; the Disneyland Fire House next to City Hall, where kids can climb and play; and Town Square, where Mickey and his pals greet friends throughout the day. Your family will also love the Main Street Vehicles with routes between the front of the park and Sleeping Beauty Castle. The vehicles generally run in the mornings, so it's a great way to start the day!

Be sure to utilize the Disney PhotoPass photographers throughout the park. They are great for capturing the whole family and the pictures are a wonderful souvenir to take home. Before your visit, be sure to download the Disneyland Mobile App. You can use it to find PhotoPass photo spots by clicking the pin drop icon (second from the left on the bottom toolbar) on the home screen. This will open the Disneyland Resort map where you can find the PhotoPass icon on the top toolbar to locate photographers throughout the parks.

One last thing I want to recommend is character dining. We love taking my parents and kids, and the resort has several great options! My family really loves Mickey’s Tales of Adventure Breakfast and “Minnie & Friends – Breakfast in the Park." Breakfast at either would be a great way to start or end your trip and requires little walking!

Tessa, these are just a few ideas for your family but I am happy to help with more! Please visit me again with any other questions. I know that whatever you do, will create lasting memories for you, your boys, and your parents!

Wishing you faith, trust, and pixie dust,
    Melissa
