Hi Barbara,
Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question. I really like to try new resorts at Walt Disney World. We all have our favorites, but part of the fun is to try many different ones. You are considering staying at one of my favorite resorts! I really enjoy a stay at
Disney's Old Key West Resort. I absolutely love the laid-back feeling there and the theme of the Florida Keys. Let me give you a few of the reasons that I love this resort.
I have to say that the number one reason I enjoy Disney's Old Key West Resort is the relaxing feeling that I get there. This resort is spread out over a large area, which makes it feel very uncrowded even if every villa is full. It was the original Disney Vacation Club resort, which means that many of the guests here have been vacationing here for decades. This adds to the homey, relaxed feel. The lobby at Olivia's Cafe is covered with photographs of Disney Vacation Club members and their families. Speaking of
Olivia's Cafe, I find it to be one of the hidden gems of a restaurant at Walt Disney World. It is rarely ever crowded, and the food is wonderful.
A couple of practical amenities make this resort shine. The villas are incredibly spacious. Whether you are staying in a deluxe studio or a larger villa, at each level these accommodations are quite large. Like Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter, you will also find convenient boat transportation to Downtown Disney from Disney's Old Key West Resort.
I hope that these opinions are helpful for you in making your decision, Barbara. Have a wonderful time planning your vacation, and please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions.
