Thinking of making appointment to get my 3 year old daughter's 1st haircut at harmony barber shop. Had read somewhere that it would be a good idea to get it cut during parade. Could she see parade well from barber chair? Any other suggestions as to timing?

    Hi Sarah,

First of all, I was really excited to see your question because my son just got his first haircut at the Harmony Barber Shop last week!

Secondly, I'm so glad to see that you're planning to make an appointment instead of just stopping in. The Harmony Barber Shop is very popular, so I definitely recommend making an appointment ahead of time.

Finally, I think it's hilarious that a follicly-challenged dude is offering any sort of advice about haircuts! The Harmony Barber Shop holds a special place in my heart, not just because it was where my son got his first haircut, but also because it was the last place where I got my hair cut before I started shaving my head.

(At the time, I realized that I was too young to pull off a combover and I always admired Telly Savalas' swagger!)

With respect to the timing of your appointment, I understand why some guests may like getting a haircut during parade times because the barber shop is right next to the entrance of the parade route. However, your daughter may not be able to see much from that vantage point because the windows aren't that big and she may have an obstructed view from other guests standing in front of the barber shop.

Here's a little tip from your buddy Derek:

We made my son's haircut appointment right after lunchtime, which by then, he had already burned off a bunch of energy by cruising around the Magic Kingdom and he had a fully belly from lunch. Needless to say, he was pretty laid-back about the whole scene by that time. Plus, the cast members did an awesome job of entertaining him along the way.

I hope that helps! Please feel free to write back if you should have any additional questions and I'll be happy to help in any way that I can.

    Best regards,
    Derek
