Hi there, John! Thanks so much for stopping by planDisney - my-oh-my, what a wonderful day when I get to lend a helping hand for someone's next
Walt Disney World vacation. I'll be happy to share some tips for navigating
ECV rentals during your trip. Let's get right to it!
As a nurse, I always appreciate how accessible Walt Disney World is for Guests with mobility needs. We've visited before with a family member in a wheelchair, and with some advance planning, our trip went so smoothly, and that person didn't miss out on anything!
You can rent ECVs at the four theme parks, the water parks, and
Disney Springs. These are only available on a first-come, first-served basis, so although there are usually plenty of rentals available, there is always a possibility that you may not be able to secure one if you're starting your day a couple of hours after the park opens. This will also depend on when you're planning to visit - rentals will, of course, go more quickly during peak travel periods like holidays. If you arrive at a park and can't secure one, the Cast Members there can put you on a wait list. You'll then receive a text when an ECV is available for you.
Keep in mind that the rental ECVs cannot go between parks, so if you're park hopping, you'll go to your next location and show the Cast Members there your rental receipt so you can get a new ECV there.
John, you can also rent ECVs from third-party companies to use throughout your vacation.
ScooterBug is a Disney Featured Provider that can deliver these directly to your Resort Hotel, so you'll have the ECVs to get around the resort, as well as in the parks. We have rented from them in the past, and it's a great option - you don't have to be present to receive the delivery, which also makes logistics a bit easier!
I hope this information is just what you need as you're making plans for your magical getaway! Please don't hesitate to
reach out again anytime if you have additional questions about your ECV needs or any other details of your trip.
See Ya Real Soon!
