I am thinking of a father - daughter (3 year old) vacation to disney world sometime mid July... First do you think this would be an appropriate vacation to consider and if so how could I make this the most memorable experience possible for her.

    Hi Brad!

This is a great question and it depends on what the goal of the vacation is.  If you are looking for a great vacation where you and your daughter can do things together, then I say go to Walt Disney World.  If you see this vacation as something you would only do once in several years and you want your daughter to really remember it, then your daughter may be too young.

That said, my wife and I have taken our children to Walt Disney World at least once a year and we started taking them when they were babies; both visited before turning 1.  My wife and I wanted to visit and we didn't want to wait for the children to grow up; we also wanted to capture the memories of our children visiting the theme parks with us when they were young.

Any trip to Walt Disney World will make an impression on a 3 year old, but if you really want to make it special, I recommend considering a character meal with the Disney Princesses or with Mickey Mouse!

A few pointers based on my experience:  go during a less busy time of the year, such as when older children are in school; slow down and enjoy the experience of visiting with a young child instead of running from attraction to attraction; take your own stroller because your child will be familiar with it; consider staying at a monorail resort or renting a car to allow you to return to your hotel quickly to take a nap, rest, etc; consider a character meal, but don't rush character interactions until you see how your child responds; do those things that your child finds most interesting.  The most important thing of all is to just have fun!
