We are thinking of eating dinner in Nov at California Grill in our hotel (Contemporary) and wondered if this isn't a good idea with 5 adults and a 6 & 4 yr old? The menu looks sooooo good.!! You have helped me so much already with my planning. Thank

The California Grill IS delicious. It's one of my favorites. While it is one of the "signature dining" restaurants at WDW, with a more upscale feel and a business casual dress code, there are many children that eat there every day. We first dined at the California Grill when our girls were 4 and 7. There are plenty of food choices for them. There is a kids menu and many of the items on the regular menu are kid-friendly. For example, the flatbreads on the appetizer menu work perfectly as a pizza dinner for a child.

Whether you have a successful meal there will depend a bit on your children and the length of your meal. If your kids are good about sitting still at the table for a while, you'll probably be fine. There are the standard Disney crayons and coloring pages available at the California Grill. When we dined at this restaurant that first time, we probably pushed the limits of our youngest girls' patience. We had appetizers, an entree, and dessert. All told, this probably took almost two hours. (The service is GREAT, we were just lingering to enjoy the great atmosphere.) The kids were starting to lose it by the end (our fault). If we had skipped the appetizer or brought them more diversions, our meal would have been perfect.

If you can time it right, you can watch the Magic Kingdom fireworks during your dinner. So special!
