Hi! We are thinking of driving from PA to WDW in December. We are trying to find out mileage to WDW and an estimate of time it would take. We did fly from BWI in 2010, but we are thinking that driving would save money. Any thoughts or advice? Thanks!

    Hi!

We now live in TN but used to drive to WDW from PA. From the Hershey area, it took us 16 hours of driving to arrive the gates of Walt Disney World.

We always broke it up into two days of driving and avoided driving through Washington, D.C. We found that going around DC

Our route was about 1000 miles.
    81 South
to exit 313A to merge onto US17/50/522/Millwood Pike South
Follow 17 South for about 17 miles.
Turn Right onto Winchester Rd/17 South. Drive approx. 7 miles.
Take ramp onto 66 East. Drive for about 5 miles.
Exit 28 onto 17 South toward Warrenton.
    Drive 18 miles
Turn Left at 17 South/Marsh Road.
    Drive 26 miles.
Enter 95 South to I-4 in Florida.

Note: most of the time we took 295 around Richmond, VA.

Figure your road expenses with overnight hotel stay, food and gas vs. the cost of airfare.

When our son was younger, we enjoyed driving so we had all of his "stuff" with us including stroller, familiar foods, etc.

With a December drive, you'll want to watch the weather forecast. Sometimes when traveling in the winter, we had to leave a day early due to ice storms that were moving into the carolinas and/or Virginia. You'll want to be ahead of any storms. They do shut down everything in the south and when drivers have to get off the highways due to weather, the hotels right off of 95 South fill up quickly!

Let me know if you have any other questions.
