I am thinking of doing the Princess Half marathon weekend 5k family run with my 8 year old daughter. Would we be ok walking at a fast pace? We have never done a marathon before but are avid Disney fans and thought this would be a great start.

Hi Kelly!  I think this would be a great idea and a perfect first race.  In fact, the only thing that got me started running (which I now love) was when I read that I could dress like a princess and run through Cinderella Castle!

There are lots of walkers in all the races, especially the Family Fun 5K's.  There is a 16 minute/mile pace requirement that will begin as soon as the last runner crosses the starting line.  The last corral will be the stroller division, so you know you will begin at least several minutes before them.

You and your daughter should practice your walk at a 15 minute/mile pace just so you feel confident about it.  You will be surprised at how manageable that pace is.

Please let me know if you have any other questions, and I really hope you and your daughter sign up!
