Hi! Was thinking of doing Mickeys BYBBQ, noticed it was a lil pricey though. Just wondering if its worth it? Character interactions, food, etc. And if we do decide to do it, what is the best park to plan for that day for ease of getting to dinner? Thanks!

    Hi Laura,

At first glance, some of the dinner shows & special experiences can look a little pricey. But I've found that most are worth it because Disney always does things right. Mickey's Backyard BBQ includes an awesome buffet & a night of interactive entertainment.

While you're waiting in line to be seated, there are character meet & greet opportunities. The food is an all you can eat dinner buffet including ribs, chicken, hot dogs, hamburger & tons of side dishes. For dessert you'll find all you can eat cool treats including Mickey Ear ice cream bars. Beverages include tea, punch, lemonade, beer & wine.

There are two hosts for the evening, Cyclone Sally & Tumbleweed Will that entertain with their wit & humor while encouraging Guests to dance & enjoy the party. There is one main dance floor & two smaller ones where characters dance with Guests. Characters are always subject to change but the last time I was there Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Chip & Dale appeared all in their western & BBQ attire. When the characters first arrive there is a mad dash to dance with them. Not to worry - this calms down after a bit. During the breaks, look for characters just outside the pavilion for more photo opportunities.

A live band provides the music for the evening by performing popular country tunes. There is also a trick roping demonstration - pretty impressive - and they brings up a couple of kids from the audience to assist. At the end of the evening, all of the performers & characters gather for the grand finale. My boys love this experience & I've always enjoyed it too.

I would suggest Magic Kingdom on the day you do Mickey's Backyard BBQ. You can take a boat from MK to Fort Wilderness.

While you may not do Mickey's Backyard BBQ on every trip, it is certainly worth doing at least once.  Wishing you many magical memories :-) Allison
