We have been thinking about doing a Disney Cruise with our 9 yr old, we have cruised many different cruise lines before but have never done a Disney cruise. Can someone tell me the big difference in Disney lines opposed to the other cruise lines?

    Hi, Christy!

For fear of being too succinct or sounding too obvious, the "big difference" between Disney Cruise Line (DCL) and other cruise lines is simply...the Disney difference. A long-time leader in family entertainment and vacations, DCL has taken what makes Disney so special for families and added water...making it the industry leader for family cruise vacations, too. Last fall, the readers of Conde Nast recognized DCL as the number one cruise experience.

A few key areas which I believe make a difference are:

    • Dedicated port terminal. At Port Canaveral, Disney has its very own terminal which begins the experience even before guests step onto the ship. The signature Disney service is encountered along with a few characters, too.
    • Rotational dining. Each evening on board, you dine in a different restaurant with a different motif, but your waiters and dining companions move with you.
    • Classic and innovative ships. Reminiscent of the great ocean liners of the past, the designs are breathtakingly beautiful while surprising guests with novel ideas in dining, entertainment and stateroom design -- guest quarters are larger than the industry standard.
    • Amazing private island. Castaway Cay is one of my favorite destinations in the world. It truly is an amazing and relaxing family experience with opportunities to be as active or as non-active as you'd like to be.
Combine all that with top-quality entertainment;  first-class accommodations and service; and adults' and children's activities designed for fun separately and together for an unparalleled voyage for Disney fans and experienced cruisers. I hope that helps lay out the details for you.

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
