Hi - We are thinking about a Disney vacation with the kids and I have a question that I think you'll have a good perspective on. For a first Disney vacation (kids 8 and 4) would you recommend a cruise or one of the parks? Or does it matter?

Hi Raymond! Thanks for submitting this question to the Disney World Moms Panel! Disney Cruise Line (DCL) and the Walt Disney World Resort (WDW) are both amazing family vacation destinations. The answer to your question depends on the type of vacation your family would prefer to experience. My family has loved both of these Disney destinations for different reasons. However, I will share that we cruised with our children on the Disney Magic before their very first visit to the Walt Disney World Resort. My youngest was only three months old when he became a Castaway Club member! The ideal scenario would be to combine both portions in one trip. Take a look at Karen's video titled Surf & Turf for solid tips on how to experience both destinations in one amazing Disney vacation. We had the opportunity to do a Surf &Turf trip last summer and plan on repeating the experience. For instance, planning for both will afford your family the opportunity to enjoy the rides in Magic Kingdom, as well as, delight in a magical Castaway Cay shore excursion. Sampling a Surf & Turf will also allow you to determine which type of vacation experience is better suited to your family's preferences. Whichever option you choose to experience, WDW, DCL, or both, your family is sure to have a memorable Disney vacation!
