Hey, Sara!
Welcome back to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. I am so glad you asked this question because
Character Dining experiences are one of my favorite combinations: Disney and food!
You are absolutely correct about January crowds and availability. The last three weeks in January are typically slower because families are returning from their holiday vacations. This is a perfect time to maximize your time riding attractions and visiting Mickey and the gang. April is also wonderful but more crowded. You may make dining reservation 180 days in advance and I strongly recommend it for Character Dining. If you change your mind or another opportunity presents, you may cancel your reservation at most restaurants up to 24 hours in advance.
Food and Resort hotel costs may be reduced but it is not a guarantee. Your best bet is to book your
Magic Your Way Vacation Package as soon as possible. Room rates are least expensive the further out you go.
Please note that January is when certain seasonal restaurants and some attractions undergo refurbishment and maintenance. Disney Parks take advantage of the low crowds to make sure the Kingdom is up to royal standards.
Disney Dad Tip: Please monitor the
special offers page over the next few months. This page is packed full of discounts and will tell you when special rates are available. Many times you may be able to upgrade your hotel for little difference. If you have booked a vacation package and a better offer is presented you should be able to switch provided there is availability.
Sara, enjoy making many
unforgettable Magical Memories!
