Hello, I am thinking about celebrating my 40th birthday at the magic kingdom, but I don't know what options can be arranged. I am open to suggestions. I would like to bring my family and friends too. Can someone please help me? Thank you.

Hi there Michaelle, and welcome to planDisney!

Wow! Happy birthday to you! Your big day is arriving just as Walt Disney World is celebrating 50 magical years. I can't think of a better way to spend the big 4-0 than with family and friends in the Most Magical Place on Earth. Whether you want to plan a private event for your group or just enjoy a day together in a theme park, there are so many ways to celebrate.

If you're looking to put together a party in a dedicated space for you and your guests, contact Disney Meetings & Events. The magic makers here will help you create a unique event in the venue of your choice. I recently attended a private party in a lakeside gazebo at Disney's BoardWalk and it was the perfect setting for a fun, informal gathering. After the event, we walked into EPCOT and enjoyed Harmonious as a group. The whole evening was practically perfect in every way! There are several private event spaces near Magic Kingdom Park that the friendly folks at Disney Meetings & Events can tell you about.

Another option is to plan an unforgettable day for your crew in the Magic Kingdom Park. Wear matching shirts that celebrate your special day, take a group photo in front of Cinderella Castle, create an itinerary that includes all of your favorite attractions, and end the day with a celebratory meal. A few of my favorite in-park or nearby restaurants that I think would also be fun for a group are Be Our Guest Restaurant, California Grill, Steakhouse 71, and 'Ohana. For an extra special touch, order a birthday cake, and time your meal so you can step out to watch Disney Enchantment at the end. Nothing like ending your big day with a bang!

One last idea for an incredible birthday celebration is a specialty cruise. My family and I embarked on a fireworks cruise last summer and all nine of us agreed it was the best experience we've had together in Walt Disney World. The boats accommodate up to 10 passengers, and your Cast Member captain provides light refreshments, fun Disney trivia, and last but not least, a "parking spot" right in front of the Magic Kingdom Park for a perfect view of Disney Enchantment. These cruises can be booked 60 days in advance, and I recommend calling as soon as possible if this is something that interests you, as they are popular experiences.

I hope this gives you some ideas for making the most of your big day, Michaelle. If there's anything else we can do to make the occasion even more magical, don't hesitate to reach out again. We're all ears, and we love to help!

    Happy holidays, and happy birthday!

Greetings! I'm Betsy, a middle school teacher, wife, and mom of two.
