    Thinking of bringing our grands ages 5 and 8 to DW 8/18 through 8/23. Good timing? Also itinerary ideas for first-timers excluding water parks? We're planning on staying at Port Orleans Riverside which looks beautiful online. Thx in advance for your help

    Hi Annie!

    Thank you for sending in your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel.

    August is very hot and humid in Florida, but when you go the crowds will generally be less than the usual summer average; that is because many parents and children will be getting ready to go back to school then, especially in the Northeast United States.

    I would suggest an itinerary along the following:
    • Downtown Disney on your first day
    • Epcot on your first full day at Walt Disney World
    • Magic Kingdom
    • Disney's Hollywood Studios
    • Disney's Animal Kingdom
    • Return to your favorite theme park

    I suggest starting off with Epcot first instead of the Magic Kingdom because many young guests do not love Epcot while most guests love the Magic Kingdom, the crown jewel of the Walt Disney World Resort.  Since it will be their first time, they will find Epcot a lot of fun especially when done before the Magic Kingdom.

    Port Orleans Riverside is a wonderful place to stay.  It is my favorite Disney Moderate Resort.  Our responses are limited in length, but I would be happy to help you more.  Just write back with more questions!
