Ahoy, Ryan!
That's an awesome first time trip abroad that you're brewing -- setting sail on a
transatlantic cruise onboard the
Disney Magic and getting time to spend in beautiful Barcelona! My family and I traveled for the first time to Europe several years ago -- and it, too, was to meet our Disney Cruise ship in Barcelona! We've been back several times after that trip, since we've really enjoyed visiting Europe.
There are pre-cruise accommodations and activities that you can take advantage of, and all that can be arranged directly with Disney Cruise Line. In fact, your whole trip - including your airfare, hotel and ground transportation can be booked directly through DCL. It makes it very convenient, and nicely coordinated too. When we visited Barcelona to go on our Mediterranean cruise, we were fortunate to stay in Barcelona for a few days. Disney Cruise will have hotel recommendations and also special pricing for pre-cruise stays. You can also purchase the airport to hotel ground transfers. It was very convenient for us, since the hotel we stayed at had a Disney Cruise desk at the lobby, and a motor coach was there to pick us up at the hotel to bring us to the Port of Barcelona.
Since you are traveling that far already, it might make sense to spend a few days to tour around Barcelona. The food is amazing! There are lots of beautiful sites to check out while there. It wasn't very difficult to navigate around town for our family. Everyone was very friendly. If you are interested in enhancing your trip with an
Adventures by Disney pre-cruise stay, that's definitely a wonderful way of seeing Barcelona.
Happy planning, Ryan!
