We are thinking about booking the deluxe disney dining plan for 2 adults 3 kids. Is it really beneficial to do so? In breaking down the estimated cost, the plan is approximately $200/day. I don't even spend that much on food for 2 weeks!

    Hi Heather,

There are several versions of the Disney Dining Plan and what's perfect for some guests may not be the best for others.  I generally don't recommend the Deluxe Disney Dining Plan, especially for families with children for two reasons.  The first is it's a lot of food, especially for young guests.  Second, if you actually sit in two or three Table Service (full service) restaurants each day, then you are not able to spend that time in the theme parks.  I usually plan on spending an hour and a half to two hours enjoying a Table Service restaurant; do that two or three times a day and there isn't a whole lot of time left to do anything else.  While I think some adult guests would be happy doing that, I have found younger guests to be anxious to return to enjoying the attractions in the parks.

However, that said, I have enjoyed Table Service for both lunch and dinner on the same day on many occasions.  It offered a nice break from the parks, especially when my children were young.  Also, Walt Disney World has some amazing restaurants serving fabulous food... and I love to eat!  You have to decide what makes sense for your family!

Enjoy planning your vacation and write back if you have any questions.
