Ahoy, Janina! If you are already thinking about cruising in 2028, you are clearly a planner and brought your question to the right place.
Disney Cruise Line typically releases their itineraries by season, so there is no scheduling or pricing information available for any 2028 sailings yet. For reference, the Fall 2026 and Spring 2027 itineraries were released in August 2025 and early bookings began on August 25, 2025. Based on that, you can expect the first 2028 itineraries to be announced later this year toward the end of the summer. You can always find the most up-to-date information on the Disney Cruise Line website, but you can also
sign up to receive email updates, which conveniently bring news like itinerary announcements right to your inbox.
The truth is that it is nearly impossible to give you a rough estimate because the cost of a Disney cruise varies widely depending on a number of factors, including: the sailing dates, destination, ship, length of the cruise, and stateroom type. Summer sailings are generally going to be more expensive than off-season sailings, but cruises that fall during holidays often also come at a premium. Similarly, sailings from domestic departure ports are often less expensive than those abroad and cruises aboard the newest members of the Disney fleet are going to cost more than those on the more seasoned vessels. But the two factors that play the biggest role in determining the cost are going to be the length of the cruise and the stateroom type that you select.
I know that it can be overwhelming with so many options to pick from, but I highly recommend starting by narrowing down the itinerary that you are interested in and then determining which sailing dates will work for you. Once you have that figured out, you will know which ship you will be sailing aboard and can narrow down your stateroom choices by looking at the
deck plans and actual availability.
All of the ships offer four different
stateroom types: inside, oceanview, veranda, and concierge. However, if you are planning to set sail as a family of four with another individual in an adjoining room, then you will need to select two staterooms within the same category. Once you determine which specific cruise you will be taking, you can begin the booking process and indicate how many staterooms you need, how many adults and children will be in each one, and can even select the option online to specifically find available connecting rooms. Keep in mind that if the individual member of your sailing party occupies their own stateroom, that will be considered a single-occupancy fare and they will be charged the same total package price as two guests staying in the same stateroom. That may provide a big financial incentive to split your party into groups of three and two instead of four and one.
Alternatively, if you would be comfortable having all five members of your sailing party stay within the same stateroom, there are some oceanview and verandah options that can accommodate up to five guests. You can also find staterooms and suites designed for parties of five to seven guests within the concierge category that offer different sleeping configurations that may meet your needs. Please note that the main bed in each stateroom cannot be split into two separate beds, but there is a convertible sofa bed if you need two different sleeping spaces within the same room.
We are always happy to answer any other questions that may arise during planning, so feel free to come back to planDisney at any time as you continue planning your perfect 2028 cruise. Happy sailing!
